When a cigar experiences humidity swings, transport stress, or an imperfect cut, the wrapper can crack right at the foot. Once that split starts, every draw can widen it. A properly placed band compresses the foot, holds the wrapper edge in place, and lets you smoke the cigar normally. It also secures the foot after repair work — if you have reattached a loose wrapper, the band acts as a cast while the repair sets.

If you are unsure of your cigar’s ring gauge, measure the diameter in 64ths of an inch. A 50-ring cigar is 50/64 inch across. We recommend a band width of 18-20mm for clean foot coverage without interfering with the cut or the first draw.

Printing Processes and Finishes

Hot foil stamping gives a bright metallic shine in gold, silver, or custom foil colors. Adhesive Specification

Each band carries a 12mm self-adhesive strip. You peel and stick — no brushing, no glue pot, no mess. No residue is left on the cigar wrapper, which matters if you are banding aged cigars or cigars you plan to store.

How to Choose, Measure, and Apply

How to choose the right paper. If the band’s primary job is functional protection, standard coated art paper is the right call — thin, strong, clean printing. If the band is doing branding work at a wedding or corporate event, gold foil antique or pearlescent paper adds visual weight. For cigars stored long-term in high-humidity humidors, waterproof cotton paper holds up best.

How to measure your cigar. Measure the diameter at the foot in 64ths of an inch. A 52-ring cigar is 52/64 inch. Our bands fit 42-60 ring gauge. For length, measure from cap to foot in millimeters. Our sizes cover 120mm to 200mm. If your cigar falls outside these ranges, send the dimensions and we will cut a custom size.

How to apply the band. Peel the backing from the 12mm adhesive strip. Wrap the band around the foot of the cigar so the band sits just behind the cut line, leaving the actual foot exposed enough to light cleanly. Press firmly for two seconds. The adhesive bonds immediately but remains removable without residue if you need to reposition or remove the band before smoking.
