Custom Engraved Wine Bottles – Personalized Gift Bottles

A custom engraved wine bottle turns an ordinary bottle into a keepsake that stays on the shelf long after the toast is over. At our studio, the original label is removed and the artwork is cut into the glass by hand — a portrait, a message, a date, a company LOGO — then colored at room temperature so the design stands out clearly against the deep coffee and red tones of the bottle body.

Every bottle is made to order, one at a time. Minimum order quantity is 1 pc, the design proof is ready in 1-3 days, and engraving plus coloring takes 2-10 days after you approve the proof.

What Can Be Engraved on a Bottle

The bottle body is a narrow, dark, curved canvas — so the strongest results come from concise wording and clean, high-contrast artwork rather than dense blocks of text.

  • Text messages — one message per bottle, with an optional pattern template. Templates are numbered 1–12 and the text inside them is replaceable with Chinese pinyin, Latin names or dates.
  • Portraits and photos — hand-drawn from your image, limited to 2 people per bottle.
  • Object photos — a house, a car, a pet, a bouquet, a landmark, a favourite object.
  • LOGO — corporate marks, monograms and simple brand patterns for business gifts and events.
  • Simple patterns — borders, rings, hearts, laurel and similar decorative elements from the template range.

For corporate and event buyers we also work on empty-bottle lines, where decoration can be applied by silk-screen printing, decal firing or 3D printing instead of hand engraving. That route suits larger runs, promotional sets and private-label projects where the bottle itself is the product.

Because the portrait is drawn by hand from your photograph, photo quality decides likeness. Send the original file: high pixel count, good even light, complete composition, no heavy filters. The more detail in the photo, the more detail the engraver can translate into the glass.

Hand-Engraving and the Colour-Contrast Finish

This is not a printed label and not a sticker. The studio describes the full route — creative design → copy/plate → glass engraving → coloring — as up to 20 steps, all finished by hand.

The engraving cuts into the glass surface, which gives the artwork a clear line definition and a pronounced relief you can see and feel when the light moves across the bottle. Colour is then applied at room temperature so the engraved areas read strongly against the bottle’s dark base — the artwork lifts off the deep red or coffee glass instead of disappearing into it.

A note on the glass itself: small bubbles up to 2 mm in diameter and mold seams are normal features of glass production, not defects. The glass is fired at approximately 1500 °C as part of standard bottle manufacturing.

On photo-engraving orders, a blessing message, name and date are added free of charge. If you want “Happy 10th Anniversary, Emma & Jack, 12.06.2015” beneath a portrait, that text is included.

Gift Set Options

Choose the configuration that matches the occasion. Gift-set lines include a full bottle of red wine or champagne with the original label removed and the body engraved; empty-bottle lines are for buyers who want the decorated glass only, or who will fill and label it themselves.

Positioning is straightforward: an engraved bottle with a portrait suits weddings, anniversaries, love confessions and commemorations; a LOGO bottle suits corporate gifts, client appreciation and staff awards; a message-and-date bottle suits birthdays, housewarmings, gifts to parents, family dinners, Christmas and Valentine’s Day. Buyers often describe it as a gift with prestige — a gift with face — because the personalisation is permanent and visible.

Ordering Steps and What to Send

  1. Send your material — the photo, portrait, object image or LOGO file, plus the exact wording you want engraved. Original files only, not screenshots.
  2. Choose a template — pick a pattern template number (1–12) if you want one, and confirm the text to replace it: pinyin, Latin names or dates.
  3. Receive your proof — we send a design proof within 1-3 days for your approval. Nothing is cut into glass before you sign off.
  4. Engraving and coloring — once approved, hand engraving and room-temperature coloring take 2-10 days.
  5. Packing and delivery — the finished bottle is boxed in its wooden or leather gift box and shipped.

Tell us the occasion and the delivery date when you enquire, and we will confirm whether the schedule works before you commit. Orders start at 1 pc, so single gifts and small private orders are welcome alongside bulk event and corporate runs.

Shipping and After-Sales, Honestly

Glass is fragile and personalised glass is irreplaceable, so we would rather be direct about how it works.

  • Customised bottles are one-offs and are not subject to no-reason returns. Non-quality issues are not returnable.
  • If a bottle arrives broken or with a serious flaw, contact us within 12 hours of receipt with photos. We will arrange a free remake or a refund.
  • Engraved wine should rest upright for about 2 hours before opening, so any sediment settles.
  • Reusing the empty bottle for home-brewed wine? Only bottle after secondary fermentation has finished, and leave headspace.
  • Cleaning: water with white vinegar keeps the glass clear.

Frequently Asked Questions

What can be engraved on a bottle?
Text (one message, with an optional numbered pattern template 1–12), portrait or photo of up to 2 people, LOGO and simple patterns. Portraits are hand-drawn from your photo, so photo quality decides how close the likeness is — send the original, high-pixel, well-lit image.
How is the bottle made?
The original label is removed, the artwork is engraved by hand into the glass, and colour is applied at room temperature so it contrasts against the dark bottle base. The studio describes the whole process as up to 20 hand steps.
Can I add a message for free?
Yes. On photo-engraving orders, a blessing message, name and date are added free of charge.
Is the bottle real wine, and what if it breaks in transit?
Gift-set options include a full bottle of red wine or champagne, sold as a gift set. If a bottle arrives broken or with a serious flaw, report it with photos within 12 hours of receipt for a free remake or refund.
Can it be returned?
Each bottle is a one-off personalised item, so there are no no-reason returns and non-quality issues are not returnable. Damage and serious flaws are covered by the remake or refund policy above.
