Custom Temporary Tattoos: Water-Transfer and Herbal Sheets

Yichi Custom Products is a custom temporary tattoo manufacturer based in Zhejiang, China, printing water-transfer and herbal tattoo sheets to order for promotional-product distributors, importers, event and festival agencies, brand-marketing teams, wedding suppliers and online sellers. You supply a logo, a photo, a QR code or a complete sheet layout; we print it on imported water-transfer tattoo paper — as a single sheet for a test order or as a bulk temporary tattoo run for a concert, trade show, product launch or reseller range. With an MOQ of 1 pc, one sheet is a perfectly valid order unit.

Standard vs Herbal Temporary Tattoo: Which One Do You Need?

This is the first decision on every order, because it changes how the tattoo looks on skin and how long it stays there.

Standard water-transfer tattoo. Colour appears immediately when the paper is applied, so the design looks exactly as printed from the first minute. It shows a slight sheen on the skin. Typical wear is around 3 days, with a realistic range of 3-7 days depending on where it sits on the body. Full-colour printing is available, and the tattoo can be removed at any time with alcohol, BB oil or makeup remover.

Herbal (juice) tattoo. Colour develops gradually and deepens over 24 hours to its maximum depth, which gives a softer, skin-like result. It does not show the sheen of the standard type, and typical wear is 10+ days. It can also be removed at any time.

The practical rule: choose standard for instant visual impact and short campaigns — giveaways, single-day events, sampling. Choose herbal when the tattoo has to survive a week or more of real life — holiday campaigns, long promotions, extended festival runs.

How Many Tattoos Fit on One Sheet?

Every order is laid out on an A4 sheet with an 18 × 28 cm printed area. A 19 × 29 cm example sheet is also produced, and a 50 × 70 cm large sheet is available when a single design needs more room.

The number of designs depends entirely on the individual design size, and the full ladder is set out in the specification table below. Most buyers settle on 3×3 cm, 4×4 cm, 5×5 cm or 6×6 cm. Roughly two different designs per sheet is the standard layout; if you want more designs on a sheet, you will need more sheets.

Because one sheet carries many individual tattoos, it behaves like a small assortment pack. That makes temporary tattoo sheets for resellers easy to plan — a distributor or online seller can stock a few sheets and split them into individual pieces later. If you are mixing several sizes and designs on one sheet, tell us the priority order and we will lay it out for your approval before printing.

Choosing a Finish: Full Colour, Gold Foil, Laser Silver, Glitter or Glow-in-the-Dark

Five finishes are available, and each one answers a different brief.

  • Full colour — the default for logos, photos, QR codes, flags and illustration, printed as supplied in RGB.
  • Gold foil — a metallic accent for premium brand marks, bridal-party designs and artwork that should read as a gift.
  • Laser silver — a reflective metallic look for launch events, nightlife venues and graphic, tech-style artwork.
  • Glitter — texture and sparkle for party, dance and festival designs.
  • Glow-in-the-dark / fluorescent — for evening events and club nights, where the tattoo has to stay visible in low light.

You can combine finishes across a single sheet — for example, a metallic logo mark alongside full-colour supporting designs — as long as the layout is confirmed before production. Tell us the finish per design when you send your brief.

Cut-to-Shape or No-Cutting: How the Adhesive Changes Your Workflow

We print in two formats, and the difference shows up at your end of the process.

Batch production with a die / adhesive plate. A plate is made for your artwork, so the adhesive sits only where the printed design is. The buyer does not need to cut around the outline before applying — peel and place. Because a plate has to be produced, this format suits larger runs.

Single-sheet production. The adhesive covers the whole sheet, so each tattoo has to be cut around its outline by hand before application. This format suits one-off or small orders where no plate is needed.

If your team or your end customer will be applying hundreds of tattoos at a trade show or festival, batch production removes hours of hand-cutting. If you are testing a design or ordering a handful of sheets, single-sheet production keeps the order simple and the MOQ at 1 pc.

Ink, Adhesive and Skin Safety

A temporary tattoo sits on skin, so the material stack matters as much as the artwork.

  • Printed on imported water-transfer tattoo paper.
  • Printed with imported ink made specifically for temporary tattoos. The ink base is soy-based and is described as meeting a food-grade safety standard.
  • The adhesive is a tattoo-specific adhesive produced in Taiwan. Its main component is maltose, and it is described as environmentally friendly and breathable.

The product is described as non-toxic and not harmful to skin. People with allergic skin should patch-test first: apply one small design to the intended area, wait 24 hours, and check the result before committing to a full sheet. If you want the material details in writing for your own compliance file, get in touch.

Artwork Files That Print Cleanly

Vector files are preferred: AI, CDR, EPS or PSD. If you only have a bitmap, send it at 300 dpi or higher as PSD, BMP, JPG or PNG. Artwork must be supplied in RGB colour mode.

Simple text addition and layout adjustments are free of charge, and the design and layout service is free as well. We review artwork before printing, so anything that will not reproduce cleanly on a water-transfer sheet — extremely fine hairlines, very small reversed text, a low-resolution logo — is raised before production rather than after.

For custom temporary tattoos with logo artwork, send the original brand file plus a note on where the mark must sit. The same artwork standards apply to our custom printing work if you are sourcing other printed items alongside your tattoo sheets.

Customization Options

Five variables define the sheet you receive.

  • Tattoo type — standard water-transfer or herbal / juice.
  • Design content — text, English wording, graphics, photos, logos and QR codes.
  • Individual design size — from 1 cm up to 18 cm, with 3×3 cm to 6×6 cm being the most requested.
  • Finish — full colour, gold foil, laser silver, glitter or glow-in-the-dark / fluorescent.
  • Sheet layout — how many designs, which designs, and how they are arranged across the A4 area.

Typical uses include concert and festival tattoos, sports-event tattoos, company logo and event tattoos, face tattoos, party, dance and wedding items including bridal-party designs, national-flag fan tattoos, anime and game cosplay designs, team and squad tattoos, and promotional giveaway tattoos.

Invoicing is available, and free layout is included on every order. Describe your use case and we will propose the type, size and finish that fit it.

Applying, Wearing and Removing Your Custom Temporary Tattoos

Application. Peel off the transparent protective film, cut out the design, place the printed side flat against clean skin, wet it thoroughly with a damp sponge or clean water, wait 20-30 seconds, then peel the paper away. Some designs can be applied in as little as 10-20 seconds.

Wear time. It varies by body area: arm 3-5 days · neck 2-3 days · wrist 2-3 days · finger 1-2 days · waist 3-4 days · leg 3-5 days · ankle 5-7 days. Herbal / juice tattoos are the longer-wearing option at 10+ days.

Aftercare. Avoid rubbing or scrubbing the tattoo, avoid very hot water, and keep lotions, sunscreen, soap and shower gel off the printed area.

Removal. Soak cotton wool with alcohol, BB oil, makeup remover or nail-polish remover, hold it on the tattoo for about 10 seconds, then wipe. The tattoo can be removed at any time — useful when a campaign ends or a design is swapped out.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the minimum order quantity for custom temporary tattoos?
MOQ is 1 pc. Because one A4 sheet carries many individual designs, a single sheet is a valid order unit — useful for approving a layout before scaling up to a bulk temporary tattoo order. Sample time is 1-3 days and production time is 2-10 days.
How long do custom temporary tattoos last?
A standard water-transfer tattoo wears for around 3 days, with a realistic range of 3-7 days depending on the body area — 1-2 days on a finger, 5-7 days on an ankle. A herbal (juice) tattoo wears for 10+ days. Both can be removed at any time with alcohol, BB oil, makeup remover or nail-polish remover.
What is the difference between a standard and a herbal temporary tattoo?
The standard water-transfer type shows full colour immediately and leaves a slight sheen on the skin. The herbal (juice) type develops gradually and deepens over 24 hours to its maximum depth, shows no sheen, and wears considerably longer.
Are temporary tattoos safe for skin?
They are printed with imported soy-based tattoo ink and a tattoo-specific maltose-based adhesive, and are described as non-toxic and not harmful to skin. People with allergic skin should patch-test first by applying one small design and waiting 24 hours.
How many tattoos fit on one sheet?
It depends on the individual design size. On an A4 sheet with an 18 × 28 cm printed area, a 3 cm design repeats 28 times, a 4 cm design 20 times and a 5 cm design 15 times. Roughly two different designs per sheet is the standard layout.
What artwork files do you need?
Vector files are preferred — AI, CDR, EPS or PSD. Bitmaps are accepted at 300 dpi or higher as PSD, BMP, JPG or PNG. All artwork must be supplied in RGB colour mode. Simple text addition and layout are free of charge, and you can send your files here.
