Custom Brass Figurines Cast to Order from Your Drawing

When a milestone needs to be held in the hand rather than printed on a card, cast metal does the work. We are a custom brass figurines manufacturer based in Zhejiang, China, with 15 years of copper-casting experience. Every piece is modelled in 3D from your drawing, photograph or rough idea, cast by hand in copper, and finished to your specification — with optional gold or silver plating, frosted engraving and a presentation gift box. A single piece is accepted: the minimum order is 1 pc.

Lost-Wax or Plaster-Mould Casting? Choosing the Right Route

We cast in copper by two routes, and the shape of the piece usually decides which one is used.

Lost-wax casting runs: pattern making → wax injection → wax trimming → tree assembly → sand coating → copper melting → pouring → sprue cutting → fine finishing and polishing → high-temperature colouring.

Plaster-mould casting runs: master pattern → mould making → wax pattern → plaster slurry preparation → vacuum pouring → hardening and drying → dewaxing and firing → copper melting → vacuum casting → plaster breaking → cleaning → sprue cutting → grinding, polishing and colouring → finished-goods warehouse.

Both routes end in the same place: a solid metal piece cut from its sprue and finished by hand. The real difference is the mould. Lost-wax typically suits forms with fine detail, thin sections and openwork; plaster-mould typically suits fuller, more solid shapes where an even surface matters most. From a Drawing to a Casting: How a Custom Figurine Is Developed

Nothing is poured until you have seen and approved the shape. The sequence is straightforward:

1. You supply images or a drawing — a sketch, a photograph, a logo, or a description with reference pictures.
2. We produce a 3D model of the piece.
3. We make a 3D-printed model so you can hold the form in your hand and confirm proportions before tooling.
4. A first-article / master sample is cast in copper and finished.
5. You confirm and sign off, and production begins.

A second ordering sequence also runs through the workshop: place order → confirm design → pay deposit → sample → sign off production. Either way, the approval step sits before the casting run, not after it. Sample time is 1-3 days, and production time is 2-10 days once the sample is approved.

Finishing Options: Plating, Polishing, Frosted Engraving and Colouring

The finish is where a casting stops looking like metal stock and starts looking like a presentation piece.

• Electroplating with an anodising-type process — the surface is hardened and made more wear-resistant and heat-resistant, with a bright, rust- and corrosion-resistant finish that holds its appearance.
• Gold plating and silver plating — for awards, recognition pieces and corporate commissions where a warmer or cooler tone is wanted.
• Hand polishing — carried far enough that the surface reflects nearby objects like a mirror.
• Sandblasting and frosted engraving — gives clean, sharp lettering against a polished field.
• High-temperature colouring — applied as the final colour step in both casting routes.
• Anti-oxidation coating — applied to most pieces; see the section below.

Will the Brass Change Colour? An Honest Guide to Oxidation

This is the question buyers ask after the third year, so it is worth answering before the first order.

Brass is not easily corroded, but it does oxidise on contact with air. Depending on how far that oxidation goes, dark spots and a slight odour can gradually appear. Copper left completely unprotected will darken and discolour over time. That is normal behaviour for the material, not a defect.

Most of our pieces are therefore given an oxidation-inhibiting coating, which slows natural oxidation considerably. What the coating does not do is stop it forever: a piece displayed for years in humid conditions can still oxidise gradually. No coating makes a copper piece oxidation-proof, and we will not claim otherwise.

Three simple care rules slow the process:

1. Do not let the piece get rained on, stand in water, or sit near water. If it gets wet, dry it promptly.
2. Avoid outdoor exposure.
3. Handle it with dry hands and no sweat on the palms.

Engraving Text and Logos on Metal

Engraving is what turns a figurine into a specific award, anniversary piece or corporate gift. Two methods cover most requests:

• Frosted engraving — clean and non-fading, and the usual choice for names, dates, award titles and short messages.
• Sandblasted engraving — a deeper matte bite into the metal, well suited to bold logos and larger lettering.

On a cast piece, the base or the rear face usually gives the best engraving surface: it is flat, it is legible when the piece stands on a shelf, and it does not interrupt the sculpted front. A logo can also be carried on the front where it is part of the design itself. Because the engraving follows the 3D model, we can show you the placement on the 3D-printed confirmation model before anything is cut.

Presentation and Packaging

A commemorative piece is usually handed over in front of an audience, so the packaging is part of the product. As standard, each figurine ships in a clear acrylic case inside a presentation gift box — the case keeps dust and handling marks off the finish, the box makes the handover.

Text or a logo can be printed on the packaging, so the box can carry the same award title, company mark or event date as the piece itself. 3. Confirm. A 3D-printed model lets you check proportions and detail in the hand.
4. Sample. A first-article copper casting is produced — sample time 1-3 days.
5. Production. On sign-off, the run goes ahead — production time 2-10 days.

Shapes we regularly cast include fans, sailing boats, buildings and landmarks, animals, musical instruments such as violins and horse-head fiddles, and abstract decorative forms. If your design is outside that list, that is not a problem — it is a drawing we have not seen yet.
